Holiday Caravan

Some of us of a certain vintage may recall summers spent in caravans up and down the country, not all with happy memories as the models of that time were a far cry from today’s magnificent mobile homes. We were often crammed in, top and tailing as we played board games and eye-spy to pass the time if the weather was poor.

In recent months, there has been a surge in caravan park holidays both at home and abroad and mobile homes seem to be enjoying a surge in popularity again. Caravans and mobile homes of the 21st century have come a long way. In fact, some models are state of the art luxury with all mod cons and home from home comfort. It seems that families are keen to recreate adventures of days gone by and are booking mobile home holidays in their droves.

With an amazing choice of destinations in both the UK and the Continent, these fun breaks are really fashionable again.

Beautiful parks offering top class facilities are a great option for families looking for the perfect summer holiday. On-site adventure playgrounds, swimming pools, great nightlife and entertainment all in one place sounds like just the ticket. The availability of holiday parks in European hotspots at genuinely affordable prices means that families can enjoy home from ambience yet still add a touch of foreign glamour to their holiday.

Some great parks can be found in France, Italy and Spain and Al Fresco Holidays have a fine portfolio of European caravan holiday destinations.

In France, there are some delightful locations for some joi de vivre this summer, such as Paris, Brittany, Dordogne, Loire and even the glitzy Cote D’Azure on the sun-drenched, fashionable south coast.

If a touch of la dolce vita is on the cards there are great mobile home parks in Bella Italia such as the Venetian Riviera, Tuscany, Lake Garda and the Adriatic Coast. So you see, you really can have some glamorous adventures in a caravan!

Some of today’s spacious mobile homes within these parks can sleep up to 8 people and are fitted with stylish high spec interiors. On the sites there is a good choice of dining options from casual cafes and bars to restaurants. However, if you fancy a lazy night in you could be cooking up a storm with tasty local produce from the comfort of your terrace or garden, as some units come with their own BBQ.

The parks are well geared up for the arrival of children and teenagers with their on-site clubs where the kids can enjoy meeting new friends as well as enjoying some free time away from Mum and Dad yet staying safe and secure. Win win really!

Some of the parks are also well placed for some sightseeing if you feel the need for an injection of culture. For example, La Croix du Vieux Pont park in France offers excursions to nearby Paris, the romantic French capital. Whereas, the Venetian Riviera parks are ideally located for easy access to dreamy Venice. You could be rubbing shoulders with Italy’s jet set as you wander around the historic splendour of this beautiful city.

So, by now you’re probably wondering how to get there?

It’s couldn’t be easier. Choose from self-drive with ferry crossings or simply hop on a plane and fly to the nearest regional airport where you can either arrange a private taxi transfer or hire a car and do your own thing.

There are also some stunning locations for mobile home holidays in the UK. If you fancy staying closer to home this year, you could be enjoying a Great British summer in some fabulous places such as Devon, East Anglia, Isle of Wight, Lake District or Wales. Or take in the scenic beauty of Scotland. There are just so many places to choose from but it all boils down to what you want from the holiday as each destination offers different experiences and I’d take a punt on very different weather! You never know, we’ve had some scorchers in the past and if the sun is shining, Britain is a great place to chill out on holiday.

The mobile homes on offer these days promise a lot of fun and you won’t even have to venture out in your dressing gown to the shower block anymore!

(Ah, the memories…)
