Keep Summer Alive with Some September Sun

Keep Summer Alive with Some September Sun

16/08/2017 Off By tripsology

By September, most of us have had our big break and are usually suffering from post-holiday blues but if you want to keep that summer vibe alive for a bit longer, there’s still plenty of top temperatures and some lovely weather around to top up your tans!

September is an ideal month to take a holiday. The beaches and hotels are often less busy than July and August and you’ll be able to chill a bit more without having to battle with the crowds for a sun lounger. You can also pick up some great deals too as the season slows down for some resorts. That said, a lot of the holiday hotspots are year-round destinations such as the Canaries, the Costas and the Caribbean.

Research has shown that the top 5 short haul destinations for September 2018 are:

Portugal

Portugal is always a popular choice for September and it’s easy to see why. Choose from the vibrant and dazzling Lisbon or Porto if you fancy a city break but there’s also a fine choice of resorts along the Algarve that will still have a bit of atmosphere and liveliness as well as beautiful weather.

Praia de Rocha Beach | Algarve

Vilamoura will fit the bill if you’re looking for upscale hotels, great dining and good nightlife. It’s one of Portugal’s biggest resorts but also one of the most glitzy. The marina is the place to see and be seen and you’ll be able to admire the impressive yachts as you stroll along the harbour.

Malta

Malta is also proving popular in the pick of hot destinations for late summer and autumn holidays.

Malta

Malta’s weather is arguably one of the island’s biggest draws. Boasting over 300 days of sunshine per year, the climate makes it the perfect choice for sun seekers. It is also a magnet for culture and history buffs and is just brimming with character. Perhaps for something different to the Costas or the Canaries, Malta might be a nice change. The island still sizzles in September but there can be more rainfall as the month goes on.

Cyprus

Cyprus is another beauty at this time of the year as the fiery temperatures of July and August dip a little and feels more comfortable – albeit still very warm!

Ancient Ruins in Paphos | Cyprus

You might want to consider Paphos if you’re looking for sun, sea and sand with a bit of cultures thrown in. Combine some lazy days soaking up the sun with exploring ancient treasures. Even just taking an afternoon away from the poolside is worth it to experience the fascinating ruins and history of the place.

Gran Canaria

If you want to head for the tried and tested Canaries, Gran Canaria is a perfect choice. Having stood the test of time in satisfying hard-core sun worshippers for decades, this sun-kissed island will appeal to all ages.

A holiday to Gran Canaria can be as busy or as relaxing as you want.

Playa del Ingles | Gran Canaria

Choose from Maspalomas which has an upmarket feel to it, offering stylish hotels and high end shops and restaurants or Playa Taurito, an elegant resort, set against rugged, volcanic cliffs or if you want to join in some fun with plenty of other holidaymakers, head for Play del Ingles. Arguably the most popular resort with lots of bars and restaurants catering for the British market.

Morocco

Looking to souk up the sun? Morocco could be a great trip for those of you looking for a taste of exotic landscapes and culture but don’t want to travel too far on a plane – it’s less than four hours’ flight time from the UK.

Marrakech | Morocco

Here you can lose yourself in maze like souks, piled high with all sorts of goodies. Marrakech is the big hitter but might feel slightly too busy if you want to just chill out on your break, however, there are some dazzling hotels with jaw-dropping grounds and pools to chase away the stress. Take a look at the Clubhotel Riu Tikida Palmeraie. This oasis of calm is just 15 minutes from the bustling medina of Marrakech.

Long haul options for September are in plentiful supply too so if you have the time and don’t mind a few more hours in the air, then go for it!
