Some of the biggest and best celebrations can be found in the UK capital and London is the place to be to get your sparkle on.
Watch the magnificent fireworks over the River Thames as they light up the sky in a dazzling display or another great idea suggested to us was to go to one of London’s trendy rooftop bars; that way you get to stay warm and in from the cold but still soak up the atmosphere of a city in full swing.

Some suggestions from the community are – FEST Camden, The Windmill Mayfair, Skylight, Rumpus Room and Aviary at The Montcalm. Or, for a touch of real glamour, The View from the Shard has been highly recommended where you can celebrate in style, taking in the fireworks display from one of London’s most iconic landmarks. Probably best to book in advance as this is likely to be popular. tripsologists have also said you shouldn’t miss the fabulous New Year’s Day Parade with its Pearly Kings and Queens and marching bands as they weave through the city streets.

All eyes are usually on the Burj Al Arab as an impressive backdrop for a firework display or imagine overlooking Dubai from Burj Kalifa, the world’s tallest building? Perhaps book a special treat and have dinner in one of the restaurants for enjoying the magnificent views, or for something completely different, some of the community have suggested celebrating Bedouin style where you can experience fun, food and fireworks in the desert. What a way to see in the new year.

Traditionally, Icelanders will enjoy a family dinner before gathering at a local bonfire and enjoying fireworks. This city might appeal to the party people. tripsologists tell us that the bars and clubs stay open very late and locals and tourists alike will celebrate well into the morning.

The highly-skilled team at AllTheRooms have put together a Reykjavik Vacation Rentals guide where you can explore things to do, local guide information, affordable accommodation, availability and weather in the city. Sounds like the complete guide for your trip to Reykjavik!

Quiet Country Getaways

Are you looking for somewhere to go to see in the New Year but rowdy street parties aren’t your thing?  That’s fair enough; not everyone wants to rave all night long.  If a nice, quiet and cosy Hogmanay is more your scene then why not head off to a cosy cottage or log cabin? You can pack all the main ingredients and chuck them in the boot of the car and simply drive off into the countryside or the mountains with your Ne’er day bottle, some good food and your significant other. tripsologists have suggested booking your cosy New Year break with Holiday Cottages!

Whatever you decide on, be sure to tell us all about it and show off your fabulous New Year celebrations to the rest of the tripsology community. Here’s to a top year ahead and lots of travel.
